Engagement that Builds Relationships

Building Relationships with Indian Country Takes Time and Effort

Make sure you’re putting your efforts in the right place.

1

Educate your company and team on the rights and histories of Tribal Nations

Education and mutual understanding is the foundation for every strong partnership and a necessary precursor to any successful engagement, consultation, and/or partnership.

2

Build a team and implement strategies that acknowledge history and focus on partnership

We work within your organization to create a team and strategy for effective Tribal engagement, including how to identify and initiate contact with potentially impacted Tribal Nations and/or Tribal Nation partners.

3

Grow relationships through dialogue and consistent, effective communication.

The best relationships are not a one-time effort, but a series of efforts over time. That’s why a single letter or introductory meeting with a Tribal council is never enough. Our strategies identify multiple points of contact and areas of collaboration to ensure consistent communication and relationship development over the long term.

Tribal consultation is an exercise in developing and maintaining relationships. Words can be helpful in the beginning but action and trust are required for success.
